E32009 Preview: Marvel vs Capcom 2
This summer, Marvel and Capcom are duking it out everywhere in the world. Wolverine will swipe Mega Man's cute face, Iron Man will burn War Machine's metal, Cyclops will tear each and every piece of Magneto's poweress, Jill will bring Zombies into Ryu's world. Whatever it may be, the choice is yours. These two icons will clash on your Xbox 360, and your PlayStation 3 soon.
So, tell me about the graphics.
You can play MvC2 as a normal pixelated, stripped down to its core - the game retains its glorious gameplay without any sacrifices. It is the same MvsC2 that you played in the arcade, its the same game you played on Dreamcast, and it has been fixed to address the issues that plagued the PS2 version. As an added bonus - the game gets an option to filter the graphics through antiaslising and through sharpening. And get this, all this can be squeezed into your HDTV, because your viewing ratio has changed to fit the 1080p or 1080i size.
Did the graphics have an effect on gameplay?
The answer is, simply, a big fat NO. Like I said before; its the same Marvel vs Capcom game that you know it as - fast and furious. The Controls is as responsive as you remember it. Go ahead, mash Iron Man's beam into Mega Man's skull! Yes! Dooo it.
I'll tell you this; I've played the demo a few weeks ago, and I was underwelmed by the graphics because it was on an old HDTV. So, I got my second 'Impression' through E3 - I wanted to see for myself, what I was missing. And I can say MvsC2 is sharper on a standard HDTV.
Carlos' Verdict: Its Marvel Vs Capcom, what the hell do you want me to say!? Buy it when its on XBL and PSN in a few weeks!
